This is a preview
To My Future Self is currently an early prototype. Letters sealed here are saved only in your browser’s local storage on this device. They are not encrypted, not sent to a server, and not backed up. Anyone with access to this browser could read them, and clearing your browser data deletes them. Please don’t write anything here you need to keep safe.
What we believe
A letter to your future self might be the most honest thing you ever write. It should be treated that way.
- We don’t sell your thoughts.
- We don’t use your letters for advertising.
- We don’t build public profiles, feeds or follower counts.
- Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it.
What the preview stores
When you seal a letter in this preview, your letter, name, email, chosen unlock date and a letter ID are written to localStorage in your own browser. Your draft is kept there too while you write. None of it is transmitted to us. No email is sent.
You can remove every preview letter at any time from Sign in → Clear this device, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Planned for the production version
The following is part of the production security architecture. It is not active in this preview.
- Letters stored on a secure backend tied to your account, not to a single device.
- Letter contents encrypted before storage, so your private words aren’t casually readable by us.
- Unlock dates enforced on the server, so a letter genuinely cannot open early.
- Your email used for one purpose: telling you when a letter has opened.
- The ability to export or permanently delete everything you’ve written.
